My name is Salma Abdelhamid and I am a Master of Science in Business Analytics.

I have always been passionate about computer technology and business strategy. As a kid, I wrote code and built an entertaining and functioning desktop game. In high school, I learned Microsoft Office, Java, HTML, and Visual Basic. Going into college, I had planned on only pursuing a business degree. However, in my junior year, I took an Accounting Information Systems class, which reminded me of my love for computer programming. That summer I completed a Database Technologies minor and learned SQL. At UnitedHealthcare, I was granted access to the capital spending database and spent my free time analyzing the data. Wanting to learn more, I decided to pursue an accelerated Business Analytics program. At Simon, I learned:

• how to use R for statistical analysis, data cleaning, and transforming.
• how to use Python to explore data and write various machine learning algorithms.
• how to use Tableau to create dashboards and visualize insights highlighting important details.
• how to perform text analytics, predictive modeling, a/b testing analysis, and exploratory analytics.
• Big Data, HDFS, Hive, Pig, Hadoop, Spark, Sqoop, Flume, IoT, OLAP, and OLTP.
• pricing policies and pricing analytics to determine Nash equilibrium price.

#1 - Seneca Park Zoo Society Practicum

• Researched third party data aimed at engaging donors to increase reforestation efforts in Madgascar.
• Merged third party data with client data for a holistic analysis.
• Performed a time series analysis to identify and interpret trends and patterns.
• Developed recommendations for future data collection process.

• Studied the food delivery service industry and developed a strategic plan for Grubhub to gain a competitive advantage.
• Recommended that Grubhub start a subscription plan, which Grubhub rolled out one week after the project was completed.
• Won 2nd place out of 15 teams from MSBA, MSMA, MSA, MSF, and MBA candidates.
